INLAND DUNEDIN – STRATH TAIERI DISTRICT
Strath Taieri is a large glacial valley and river plateau in New Zealand’s South Island. It is surrounded by the rugged hill ranges to the north and west of Otago Harbour. Since 1989 it has been part of the city of Dunedin. The small town of Middlemarch is located at its southern end. Settlements include Middlemarch, Clyde Hyde, Pukerangi, Opir and Hindon.

CROMWELL
Cromwell’s historic district at the junction of the Kawarau and Clutha Rivers was swallowed by the lake in the late 1980’s due to the construction of the Clyde Dam. The heritage precinct was carefully removed and reimaged in its current location by the newly created Lake Dunstan foreshore. Today visitors continue to stroll through a heritage precinct. Gravel soils, river valleys and warm summers underpin a successful horticulture / vintner industry fostering a farm to gate culinary experience for visitors. CLUTHA
