Clevedon weekend markets
It’s not a spelling mistake; the small rural village hosts two markets. Clevedon hosts two popular markets on Sundays – a farmers’ market at the A&P Showgrounds and the art, craft and second hand goods market, known as the Village Market at the Community Hall.
Get in quick for your picnic supplies at the Clevedon Sunday Farmers Market, by mid-morning stalls can be cleared out.

Clevedon Scenic Reserve
Running short on time to explore further, spend time in the Clevedon Scenic Reserve. A lookout with sweeping views of the Auckland Sky Tower, Waitakere Ranges and Hauraki Gulf and native bush. A mini version of the magnificent Hunua Ranges Regional Park and Dudar Regional Park with its own mini waterfall walk.
The Clevedon Scenic Reserve has many old kauri trees, and great views of the Hunua Ranges and Hauraki Gulf. Access the reserve from Thorps Quarry Road. You can see and hear the bird life amongst 100ha of native bush rising above the Wairoa River. Good walking paths, parking, public toilets, fitness equipment, and picnic areas are inside the reserve.
Summit walkway Clevedon Scenic Reserve
The walkway to the summit starts at the car park and is approximately 1.1km to the lookout. The track is well constructed however with many steps. It can be challenging so is more suited to those who are relatively fit.
Return to the car park by going back the same way, or continue on from the lookout. This is also a mixture of well constructed track and steps, and is slightly longer at 1.2km.

Clevedon is home to an excellent European settler ethnographic museum recreating the life of a Scottish immigrant family, the McNicol family.
McNicol homestead and museum is focused on the settler family, the McNicol family. Numerous memorabilia, objects and equipment give a picture of 19th century domestic and farm life in Clevedon. In summer the gardens are open to picnic in among the outdoor farm equipment.
