Grab your fishing rods and head to Pukehina beach especially for surfcaster buffs. Dotterel Point is a local hot spot where the fish congregate around the underlying reefs and rocks to catch dinner. There are lifeguards on duty during the summer months near the Pukehina Surf Rescue Club. The calm waters of the estuary are safe for kids while adults watch the surfers catching the break on the ocean beach.
