TORRENT BAY INTERESTING FACT
Within Abel Tasman National Park are a number of private beaches (residents) in Torrent Bay. The dwellings are historic with no new building permits being issued. There are special restrictions for the drop-off of passengers by water taxi operators.
Drop-offs can only be made before noon each day, and there can be no passenger pick-ups at all. There are about 35 homes in the Torrent Bay settlement; only a few are lived in year-round. They rarely come on the market for sale. One of the homes is the Torrent Bay Lodge. The Lodge is only open to guests travelling on a multi-day trip with Wilsons Abel Tasman.
The Torrent Bay campsite is also located amongst the trees beside the tidal estuary.
Torrent Bay is an idyllic place to relax with nature’s tidal rhythm. Nearby is Cleopatra’s Pool and a low tide short walk to Anchorage Bay is an option.
