Impossibly beautiful Abel Tasman National Park is home to the celebrity Wainui falls. The falls is the largest in the Abel Tasman National Park.

HOW TO GET TO WAINUI FALLS, ABEL TASMAN NATIONAL PARK?

 

Wainui falls track begins at the car park in Wainui Bay – look for the signpost about 300 m after crossing the Wainui River Bridge. The nearest town is Takaka, Golden Bay.

The walk starts by crossing farmland then you enter a shady native forest of nikau palms, rata trees and tree ferns. The Wainui falls have large water smoothed boulders littering the pool below and are constantly wet, be careful not to slip as you grab a selfie. Return to the Wainui Bay car park on the same track.

The best time to complete the walk to Wainui falls, Abel Tasman National Park is in autumn when there are fewer people in the area, and while temperatures remain warm after the summer. You’ll also get to appreciate the charms of nearby Takaka, with its share of tempting walks and cafes.
