Goodson Dell guerrillas, gardening girl power, rescued the area from the derelict state of the pathways and planting. Originally part of the home garden of farmer Charles Goodson, ownership passed to the local council. A swimming pool was created by damming the stream and planted with swamp cypress. Goodson Dell became a favourite haunt of children in the 1950’s. With the draining of the pool, neglect led to the Goodson guerrillas deciding to devote time and energy to the massive clean up. Today the picturesque reserve and stream is a quiet place for contemplation and enjoyment of the mature exotic and native plants.
Together the group created the gorgeous Goodson Dell. This park offers many pleasant opportunities to sit and enjoy the pretty vistas the Guerrillas have developed and enhanced. There is also a chance of meeting one of them, spending an hour or two weeding or pruning, perhaps adding a seedling or two and ensuring the Goodson Dell is picture-perfect for future generations.
