There is something about a park’s entrance. A grand set of gates, pillars, statutes or decorative objects mark the division between the ordered nature inside and the bustle of business outside. Invercargill does not disappoint with the Feldwick Gates. The brick gate posts have pilasters on which are mounted commemorative plaques. The gate posts are mounted with urns draped with wreaths. Cast iron gates provide access to Coronation Drive – a grand central entrance, and smaller pedestrian entrance flanked by smaller gate posts and side walls. Feldwick Memorial Gates still provide a grandeur to the 80 acre park.
