A former quarry is now a quiet picturesque gully tucked away in the suburb of Mount Eden. While this garden has a minimal admission fee (to support the volunteers and the garden upkeep). While you wander through the gardens the seating, the donated plants, nooks and corners have plaques describing the individuals who have contributed funds or labour to create and maintain this special corner of Auckland. The garden has steep paths (it was a quarry). For glorious city views the adjoining Mount Eden volcanic cone is a great place to capture a classic volcanic hill complete with city views.

Memorials
Create a memorial in a beautiful garden setting. A membership option will be included with each memorial, allowing you to return to Eden Garden and to visit your loved one as often as you like.
You may memorialise a shrub, a tree or a rock in the Garden and your loved ones ashes will be interred at the site or near the memorial. If you choose the Memorial Wall the ashes of your loved one will be placed in an unmarked site in the garden… contact Eden Garden for more details.

Cafe and toilets. The cafe is classic kiwi morning or afternoon tea spread complete with club sandwiches, egg & bacon pie, cakes and, of course lamingtons (delicious sponge coated with icing and dusted with coconut).
No children’s playground.
History
Eden Garden was donated to the people of New Zealand in 1965 and is managed by The Eden Garden Society, Inc., a not-for-profit society. Developed by volunteer workers who give freely of their time maintaining established areas, planning and working with nature’s cycles. Showplace. The 5.5 acres (2.25 hectare garden with its mature canopy of trees is a haven for flowering shrubs with extensive collections of camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons.
Look down for memorial plaques as you walk garden paths commemorating Society members. The public space very much like a neighbourhood garden for family and friends.
