The Christchurch gondola is accessible on public bus transport. Catch bus number 8 departing from the Christchurch Bus Interchange between Lichfield and Tuam Streets behind The Crossing Complex.

The gondola carriage is a four seat cabin. The cabin is air conditioned.

The Christchurch gondola ride is approximately 10 minutes covering a distance of 862 metres. Allow a minimum of one hour for the gondola ride and experiences.

The gondola is wheelchair friendly with a maximum width up to 600 mm.

Opening hours

10am-4pm daily (last ride down at 5pm) winter hours. Summer extended hours, check beforehand for details.

TIP

Recommended you drive to the top of Mt Cavendish and take the gondola down the Port Hills. The views captured on video are interesting as the city slowly moves into focus. And you will have already got lots of panoramic shots from the top already.

10 Bridle Path Road, Heathcote Valley, Christchurch

The Base Station of the Christchurch Gondola is located in Heathcote Valley with ample parking for large tour buses, motorhomes and cars. The Summit Station, including the Red Rock Cafe, Christchurch Discovery Ride and gift shop is at the top of Mt Cavendish.
