Western Springs Park – Child Friendly Activity. A flat 1.8km walk around the park with a free tram ride as a bonus makes this a great kids destination. The park has a natural spring fed lake (early supply of town water) supporting an eel population. Ducks, water birds inhabit the lake. The park is very close to the Auckland Zoo and Museum of Science and Technology. This makes for a day visiting the zoo, picnic at Western Springs or check out the interactive exhibits at the Science Musuem.
