Waitete Bay

Coromandel, North Island

Another beach and another gravel road to a glorious location. The shallow shoreline creates a safe swimming beach. There are great beach walks exploring low tide rock pools. There is a compostable toilet near the beach entrance. The islands facing the beach are the Motukawao group of Islands and on the right the Moehau Range. The beach is on the western side of Coromandel Peninsula, past Colville near the top of the peninsula. Locals use tractors to launch boats from the beach. There are holiday beaches, and a few permanent residents in this idyllic setting.
