Waitara Marine Park is currently a large grassy reserve located where the Waitara River meets the sea. There are plans to revamp the area with BBQ’s, fish filleting zone and shared pathways eventually connecting with the Coastal Walkway.

The estuary is a popular surf-casting fishing spot.
