Discover a North Shore star. Takapuna has an indoor shopping mall, promenade boutique stores, cafes and restaurants often with gorgeous views of Rangitoto Island, the Hauraki Gulf and the beach. On the weekend to add to the beach culture is a great farmers market bustling with vendors, fresh fruit and yummy snacks for a day at the beach.
The white sandy beach has ample parking, changing facilities, summer lifeguards, boat ramps, playground and nearby Lake Pupuke, a freshwater lake as an alternative to the beach. The bars and restaurants vie for the best views of the action with plenty of choice for visitors to watch beach goers kayaking, swimming to the pontoon or enjoying a stroll. The Takapuna business district manages a number of summer activities from waka competitions, yachting, swimming events.
Getting to Takapuna Beach
From Auckland city approximately 12 km over the harbour bridge by vehicle. There is a regular Auckland public bus service. There are no trains.
