Otago Peninsula Museum was started by local people in 1974, with a small room in the Portobello Coronation Hall used to display photographs and historical items. Now it is a regional collection worth the time of avid heritage trail followers. A gem of a museum that feels personal with touch of entering someone’s home for a look at the past. Entirely funded and supported by the volunteers from the local community.
