Mount Maunganui Beach blends into Papamoa Beach with its own lifeguards, cafes and beach culture making this beach a local favourite. For kids the playground has an authentic lifeboat salvaged from the shipwreck Rena in 2011.

Papamoa Beach has a large stretched out park running parallel to the beach with numerous access points. The trails offer water views with bridges joining paths at multiple points. The walkway is well maintained with good signage.
