Mission Bay

Auckland, North Island

Take in Auckland’s best known celebrated beach with cafes, restaurants, shops, a glorious beach shaded with mature pohutukawas and grassy verges. Selwyn Reserve has the Trevor Davis Fountain, lit up at night and a local landmark (selfie moment). The Promenade has over 93 car parks available in designated areas. The waterfront haven looks over the Hauraki Gulf with the spectacular views contrasting with slow moving container vessels heading to the Auckland port. On the western end of Mission Bay is Bastion Point with its promontory and views over the harbour and gulf. There is a playground and public changing facilities. In summer there are lifeguards on duty.

Getting there is a breeze from the city centre, drive along the waterfront on Tamaki Drive, past SeaLife Kelly Tarlton (another great visitor marine world attraction), sweep around the curve and the Promenade beckons. For more information about beaches and places to go check out Auckland beaches where to go.

Getting to Mission Bay
