@The Bank @The Bank

On your way to Hawera you pass Eltham. It is worth a detour. Eltham is a town characterised by its shuttered main street where there are more closed shops than open. It is a record of the twentieth century and the move of a butcher, baker and candlestick maker to the local supermarket which is located 40 minutes away in New Plymouth. Take a wander along Bridge Street checking out what is open and what is closed with the net curtains a clear indication of ceased trading. Eltham is also home to inspiring art galleries and design stores.

ELTHAM VINTAGE SHOPS

The Bank. There is something about a shop where someone’s discarded objects become the next best thing you purchased. The place reflects the owner’s interior design crediandals with rooms arranged with collectables and recently acquired pieces. Markbellringer.co.nz is a co-owner of The Bank and professional photographer. His partner Barabara adores roses and see if you can get a peek at the back yard, with over 40 roses in bloom spilling scent into the air. Interior design and chosen pieces for sale are strongly influenced by the lifelong love affair with the soft lush petals of a rose.

Church Antiques & Allsorts – Antique Store – Eltham, New Zealand – 28 Photos. Need a new chair dated 1950’s or perhaps a 1960’s china set then this is the place to visit.  Part second hand store, part vintage and wholly fun to visit.
