Ohinetahi Garden

Looking over the red garden to the Ohinetahi house @ohinetahi Looking over the red garden to the Ohinetahi house @ohinetahi

Outdoor galleries where plants and sculptures happily coexist is a magical place. Ohinetahi does not disappoint with woodland trails where stunning Lyttelton harbour views greet visitors. Sculptured foliage and hedgings create a timeless space echoing classic European gardening tradition. Ohinetahi is also home to two outstanding galleries and magnificent nineteenth century homestead.

The formal garden consists of a number of separate garden rooms of differing style and character arranged about two axis, one running east west and another north south. The garden’s style is balanced and symmetrical design with a strong framework reminiscent of Renaissance gardens. The influence of Sir Miles Warren, a notable New Zealand architect is very evident. A special gardent that is now available for us to enjoy the quiet and peace of this hillside place.
