Pacific Coast Highway continues along the coast to Wairoa eventually reaching its destination, Napier. There are two alternative routes to Napier, the inland route encompassing Lake Waikaremoana and Te Reinga Falls or the coastal route Morere Hot Springs and Mahia Peninsula.
Getting around the East Coast requires a vehicle. The narrow winding roads and poor visibility around sharp corners is not ideal for cyclists. Motor homes will need to be careful however the route is accessible for larger vehicles. There is minimual public transport.
