Day three – mid morning arrival

GETTING AROUND ROTORUA

Ohinemutu Village

Walking

There is a lot to see within easy walking distance in the central city. Places like Kuirau Park, the Lakefront,  Government Gardens,  and Ohinemutu Living Village. To walk to the Redwood forest, Whakarewarewa or Te Puia from mid-city, it would take about 30 – 40 minutes (one way). There are taxi services / uber operating within the city centre and to major tourist attractions.

Rotorua Airport

Rotorua is easily accessible for international arrivals. Air New Zealand flies daily to Rotorua Airport from Auckland and Wellington in the North Island, and to Christchurch in the South Island. Travelling to Rotorua city centre from the airport is an easy-to-navigate 10-minute drive. All major rental car agencies have service desks located at the arrivals terminal, and the airport is serviced by shuttles, taxis and bus services.
