A day heading South to the Wairarapa

Consider an extension to your Hawke’s Bay foodie trail and continue travelling south to the Wairarapa and Wellington. You will pass through Waipukurau and Waipawa, Central Hawke’s Bay with their fascinating stories and Tukituki trail for outdoor buffs. Drive south through the Tararua district to the boutique vineyards of the Wairarapa. An easy circuit through pastoral landscapes to outlying vineyard clusters and interesting settlements. Allow up to 1 day for the drive with plenty of stops including the historic Tui Brewery in Mangatainoka. The Wairarapa with its vineyards and historic buildings is a great place for a weekend getaway or as part of a longer road trip.
