Mt Somers in mid-Canterbury features rugged bush, open sub-alpine tussock lands, historic coal mines, impressive volcanic formations and deep canyons. SHARPLIN FALLS PICNIC SPOT Sharplin waterfalls is a popular local picnic spot and the carpark is also one of the starting points for the Mt Somers Tracks.

Nearby are three golf courses, Mayfield, Methven Golf Course and Terrace Downs Resort golf course.
