Glentunnel has a close historical association with local coal mines, potteries and brickworks of the Glentunnel/South Malvern area. This association, which continued until the 1980s, can still be seen in the brick community buildings including the library and stable, and many of the miners’ cottages are still lived in today. Located on State Highway 77 with close proximity to ski fields and Canterbury outdoor attractions.

Part of the pastoral business of the nineteenth century Deans family. The Deans established a large brick making and pottery works. The brick woolshed on Homebush marks the Deans family’s early presence in the district. The category 1 heritage listed 1870’s museum and stables buildings house a wide ranging and unique collection of pioneering country life
