Holt Forest

Holt Forest @frameofcharlie Holt Forest @frameofcharlie

Discover a gift of native and introduced trees in an arboretum planted over a 45 year period by Harold and Dorothy Holt. In 1962 it was proclaimed a Wildlife Sanctuary and gifted to the people of NZ. The Arboretum is open to the public all year around. There are a number of walking paths that are wide firm gravel paths. Several Picnic areas and toilets. No dogs in Holt Forest.

For admirers of Californian redwoods there is a grove of redwoods, douglas fir and kahikatea all reaching considerable heights.

Open to the public throughout the year.
