Camping in the Hawke’s Bay places to go

Hawke’s Bay is summer. There are a number of camping grounds however the summer season means forward bookings are essential as many visitors return to the same location.

 

WAIPATIKI BEACH HOLIDAY PARK

Historic walking trails, a quiet uncrowded beach and popular waterfall walks nearby for a beachside holiday park. Waipatiki Beach Holiday Park has ensuite cabins, chalets, powered and non-powered sites. Napier is 30 km from the beach.

WAIMARAMA HOLIDAY PARK

Waimarama Holiday Park – is alassic campground with powered and non-powered sites. Very clean and tidy. The beach has lifeguards in summer, there is a general store and cafe with the Domain for picnics under the mature trees. For ideas what to do in the area check Beaches – Central Hawke’s Bay.

WAIWHENUA FARMSTAY AND RIVER SIDE PARK

River side with the Tutaekuri River at your fingertips. Nestled within a working farm situated on the Taihape-Napier Road is Waiwhenua Farmstay and River Side Park. All sites are on a first in first serve basis unless otherwise reserved and booked prior to arrival. There are two powered sites for RV Campers- charges apply. There is also a power supply at the toilet block and kitchen for phone charging. First come, first served basis unless it is the peak summer season whereby forward bookings apply. As part of a farmstay, there’s also a wide range of activities to entertain everyone including guided trout fishing, farm tours, unguided walks and guided hunting adventures.

MOHAKA RIVER FARM

A well reqarded farmstay option on the Mohaka River Farm. White water rafting, horse trekking or lazing by the river. Camping options include chalets, self-contained cottages and powered / unpowered camp sites. The working farm does not allow pets. Located SH5 between Napier and Taupo. The accommodation is ideal for visitors whose bucket list includes the iconic Mohaka River rafting adventure.

RIVERS EDGE HOLIDAY PARK

River’s Edge Holiday Park – Nestled in landscaped grounds are 50 power sites, tent sites, 5 backpacker cabins sleeping 2-3, on-site caravans and a self-contained tourist villa. The standard camping ground is a budget wise camp option however there is travel involved to most tourist attractions as the campsite is located in Waipawa.

MAHIA HOLIDAY PARK

A standard holiday park without the frills and budget to match is very close to Mahia Beach. There are ensuite cabins, chalets, powered and non-powered sites in the large campgrounds. BEACH ROAD HOLIDAY PARK

The campground is adjacent to the sweeping sandy Te Paerahi Beach (PORANGAHUA). Check out Beaches, Central Hawke’s Bay for activities in the area. This is a genuine get away from it all destination without any frills such as ensuite cabins or kids playgrounds. There is plenty to do in the area and a small active community supported by a general store and pub.

WAIKAREMOANA HOLIDAY PARK

A beautifully managed holiday park with up to date ensuite motel units, chalets and powered and non-powered sites. The position is ideal as the boat ramp, the exquisite Lake Waikaremoana is at the park’s doorstep. The region is spectacular however 2021 – 2022 many walks are closed due to ongoing debate with DOC and the tribal land owners.

KENNEDY PARK RESORT

Kennedy Park Resort is a modern contemporary holiday resort with swimming pools, extensive play areas for kids, and public facilities. Standard motel units, chalets, powered and non-powered sites. For ideas what to do in Napier check Napier Travel Guide.

WESTSHORE HOLIDAY PARK

Westshore Holiday Park is located within 10 minutes drive from Napier. The camping grounds are well maintained with clean, tidy motel units, powered and non-powered sites. The extensive 1.5 hectare site and mature trees create privacy and shade. Ahuriri Estuary Boardwalk and Bird Reserve lies on our park boundary. There are bikes for hire to explore the area.

ANAURA BAY CAMPGROUND

The absolute beach front site is home to a classic campground with powered and non-powered sites. Anaura Bay CampGround location is stunning. Wi-Fi is available for our campers. Pets by arrangement, must be on lead at all times. Launch and retrieve available for campers boats. There are 60 tent sites and 30 powered sites.

CLIFTON MOTOR CAMP

The place is beautiful and remote. The classic campground while dated is well maintained, very clean with friendly locals managing the grounds. There is currently no website, either email or message for bookings. There is Facebook page, or inquire through Accommodation Clifton Motor Camp Napier Visitor Centre.

TE AWANGA HOLIDAY PARK

Basic campground with powered and non-powered sites. Facilities are well maintained however in need of some TLC. Very quiet and friendly locals creating the classic camping experience.

HASTINGS TOP 10 HOLIDAY PARK

What’s so great about Hastings is its central location in the Hawke’s Bay. The TOP 10 holiday park Hastings is situated in attractive extensive landscaping. There is an adventure play area, bikes for hire and public facilities for laundry, fish filleting, games room and more. Accommodation ranges from ensuite motels, apartments, chalets, powered and non-powered sites.

NAPIER BEACH TOP 10 HOLIDAY PARK & SNAPPER CAFE

A holiday park located on a beach is a great receipe for a summer holiday. Accommodation options range from attractive beachfront motels uninterrupted views to stand alone Chalets, Ensuite Cabins and Basic Cabins. There are powered and non-powered sites. As with all TOP 10 sites there is an excellent play area for kids, extensive public facilities and programmes for kids during the peak summer months.
