Mysterious disappearance of a group of schoolgirls in 1910 led to the 1967 film ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’. The ancient rocks (over 6 million years old volcanic rock formation) passes through native bush leading up a short steep flight of stairs to the summit with its splendid views of the Macedon Ranges. You can join a Llama guided trek with Hanging Rock Llama Treks. The 5 km hike is accompanied by friendly llamas.
