ARE THERE GOLD MINES IN BENDIGO TODAY?

The Bendigo region is home to the Fosterville mine opened in 2005.
As the largest gold producer in the state of Victoria, Australia, the Fosterville mine is a high-grade, low-cost underground gold mine, located 20 km from the city of Bendigo and 130 km north of the city of Melbourne.
The Bendigo Deborah Gold Mine has an extensive gift shop. Toilets and a carpark. There are admission fees. The underground mine experience is only available on a guided tour. Wear comfortable, flat, enclosed footwear on all underground tours. Underground the mine is an average 14 degrees beneath the surface, warm clothing is recommended. Visitors are provided with a hard hat (miners helmet) and miners lamp. The most popular underground tour descends 61 metres to Level 2.
