Free entry – Botanical Garden Ballarat is an oasis from the holiday buzz of Sovereign Hill and the Lydiard Street shopping precinct. An outstanding cool climate garden is a firm favourite for visitors who know about this gem situated on the western banks of Lake Wendouree.
The Garden origins reach back to 1850’s; heritage plantings are wrapped around exotic and native fauna.

The Gardens offer plenty of things to do from kids expending energy in the playground to beautiful romantic places and the quirky busts of Australian Federal Prime Ministers.

- Public Art and Architecture adds a dimension to beautifully tended flowering beds

Travelling with kids then you must visit the adjacent Lake Wendouree Adventure Play Park. It is extensive with a large variety of play equipment for toddlers and kids. Nearby is Pipers Cafe and Restaurant and the Ballarat Botanical Gardens Kiosk.

The Gardens host several festivals throughout the year
- Summer Sundays picnic and live music events during January
- Begonia Festival in March is centred around the Robert Clark Conservatory which is open 9.00am – 4.30pm daily
