Discover the stupendously long geological history of the Flinders Ranges and Outback in the ‘Tunnel of Time’. The Port Augusta Visitor Information Centre is onsite.

Sunset location nearby Port Augusta Matthew Flinders Red Cliff Lookout offers panoramic views and an excellent sunset with the glorious red cliffs a blaze of colour. Pack a picnic, your beloved and take a short drive 11 min (6.1 km) via National Highway A87.

Allow a minimum of 2 days to explore Port Augusta attractions with several hours dedicated to Arid Land Gardens and 2- 3 at Wadlata Outback Centre. A historic train offers trips between Port Augusta and Quorn, browse galleries in the Port Augusta Railway station and stroll past a busy port on the coastal walkway.

In 2022 Port Augusta’s permanent residents are 13,500. The town is a major agricultural and transport hub for South Australia with its national road links.
