Athenree Holiday Park Hot Springs is open to the public. The well maintained camping grounds are very popular in the summer season. Forward bookings are recommended.
Bowentown offers visitors magnificent views on walking tracks over the headlands to sheltered coves where there are few visitors. Tuapiro Reserve is a small sandspit with views of the inner harbour. It is a shorebird and estuary hot spot. There are toilets and a carpark. Another coastal area to explore is the Athenree Wetlands loop walk through saltmarsh where fernbirds and australasian bittern find a home.
